Kill Bill Vol 2
No, I do not want to blog on the weekend. But let me tell you about it…
Oh my god. I saw Kill Bill Vol 2 twice. What an incredible movie. Yes, I’m in slight agreement with the critics that it moved a little slow in parts. But really, if you look at both movies as a whole, the slow scenes balance out the frighteningly fast ones. And how FIERCE was Miss Ellie Driver (Hannah)! What an incredible character she played, and a brilliant acting job. That was my favorite fight scene.
I have so much more to say about the movie, but I have to see it a few more times. Well, one more tidbit “gwen Lana Turner ecame on thee escreen, Beeel began to esuck his thumb incessanly…” Fucking hysterical.
Friday night was really slow at Spin. I get so frustrated when there is no one in the club. I kept thinking it was the music I was playing, but when I would descend from the booth and check out the crowd, there was none. Despite all that, we had a fierce shower contest. Seemed like everyone showed up for the show and left right after. The back closed early and I was not a happy puppy. I still got paid of course, but I like to spin for a crowd. *sigh* How AM I gonna fix that?
Saturday morning I got my butt up and headed down to work to meet with my friend Peter to put together some music for his performance at Cherry in D.C. He selected an older song “You Make The World Go Round” which in my opinion was a bit too out of date. That said, he was really feeling the song and he knows it well, so I’m certain his energy will lift it up to another level. I added an explosion at the end and some outro beats. Not much really, but he was happy with it.
After wandering to State street with him, I went to Marshall Fields for lunch. 7 on State was dead and I had a nice quiet table by the window. After eating I hit H&M and Old Navy (the new shopping therapy ritual) and got some bits and pieces for my bits and pieces.
Sunday morning I finally watched Lost In Translation. What a bad story shot in such a beautiful way. I found most of it completely boring, but the scenery was gorgeous. The only real highlight was the prostitute scene: “Lip My Stockings!”
In the afternoon I hit Chinatown with DJ Stoney for dim sum at Happy Chef. NOT what I was expecting. The food was just ok. I’m not one to gnaw on pork bones, so the ribs didn’t do it for me. And when the chicken feet came, I tried the sauce and a bit of rice but wasn’t impressed. It just didn’t taste like much. But I ate some of the other things and filled myself up. Those Chinese eat a lot of odd things to me. I don’t think I’ll be doing dim sum there again any time soon. I’ll stick with Japanese, Korean, Thai, or Vietnamese when I want something Asian. Chinese food just isn’t doing it for me lately.
