dirt & crock-pot
After breaking my old crock-pot (much to my dismay) I hadn’t gotten around to purchasing a new one. That is, of course, until stewing meat was on sale on Peapod. I couldn’t resist, so I stocked up one some super cheap cubed meat.
Sunday morning I ventured out and finally purchased a new crock pot at the Linens and Things. It’s pretty neat looking and it has a count-down timer. You program it for the number of hours you want, then it automatically switches to a warm setting.
So I fired it up. 1/2 cup of wine, 1/2 cup of chicken stock, two medium onions, garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, basil, bay leaf, cayenne, a handful of frozen veggies, two diced potatoes, two tablespoons flour in some water, and the meat. Four hours later I was nearly climaxing as I was eating the resulting stew. Tonight it should taste even better.
While said stew was cooking, I caught up on a couple episodes of Dirt, one of my new television obsessions. Ian Hart, who plays the schizophrenic character of Don on the show, deserves an Emmy for his work. He’s so incredibly good at what he does and how he portrays his character. I really do smell Emmy in the air for him.
The show is styled well, and I like the writing. I missed a few episodes in the beginning, but Don catches everyone up at the intro of each show, so you don’t miss too much plot information. And I have to honestly say that I’m really happy to see Courtney Cox doing a fantastic job as Lucy Spiller. There are some very extreme twists and turns in the show and she handles everything well. Plus she looks like a knock-out and her house is beyond chic.
I’m hooked.
