train free

This morning I went train free. I woke up super early, showered, packed some clothes in my backpack, and headed out into the city on two wheels.

It was cold.

The city smelled wonderful in the morning air. There was very little traffic as I winded my way through Lincoln Park and zoomed down Cannon, slipping quietly under Lake Shore and onto the main bike path. I originally was going to use Halsted, as I’d done last Friday, but I decided this morning to watch as the sun climbed over the city.

It was beautiful.

At Oak Street beach I noticed an underpass which I didn’t take. I’ll have to go back and check it out sometime, because I think that would have been a better idea than crossing through downtown on Monroe then Madison. Madison wasn’t bad mind you, but the roads are u g l y on those cross-town streets and I’d rather avoid them going forward.

I was sweaty.

But not too bad. I managed to slip into my change of clothes and make it to my desk by 7:10. That’s pretty super if you ask me. Not sure when I’ll be leaving today, but it’s now around 80 degrees outside and I suspect I’ll be even more sweaty when I get home.

Idol tonight at Crew. I’m pretty sure I’m going to ride there.

I dig this bike thing.
