My half-birthday

Do YOU celebrate your half birthday? I do because it’s a good time to reflect on the last six months of another year of your life.

I started the day by rising early and enjoying the rain. I like when it rains outside. In fact, I opened the bathroom window and listened to the sounds of the rain and the city (mixed with a bit of Jazz) while I soaked in the tub.

After a long hot soak in the tub I made some eggs for breakfast with an english muffin and orange marmalade. Store bought marmalade is beginning to bore me, so I’m planning to try my hand at making my own. Sadly, my mom informed me that the season is extremely short, so I’ll need to make a ton this winter.

Anyway, the day was lazy until my teacher came over for my Japanese lesson. We drank copious amounts of hot English Breakfast tea with milk, which we call ミルクティ or miruku tea (milk tea). I purchased the tea at Harrod’s and it’s so tasty I think I’ll have to buy more from them.

Ken and Brad rang and asked me if I wanted to go for pierogi at the Pierogie Factory near me, so I jumped at the chance. I hadn’t been there yet and I was desperately looking for an excuse to go. $12 later I was inhaling a plate of fried pierogi and a large coke. Mmm.

After I returned home my teeth started hurting from the new trays. Not a big deal really, but I had some advil and it knocked me way down. I had intended to go out, but instead I sat at home and chilled, watching movies.

For a late snack, I made a gigantic bowl of miso ramen which lulled me into sleep shortly after that.

Lazy but wonderfully relaxing day. THAT is how a half-birthday should be spent.
