an instance of acceptance
Last year I made my thespian return to the stage as part of the cast of Hell In A Handbag’s Production of “Rudolph The Red-Hosed Reindeer.”
It changed me in so many ways, I can’t even describe it. But that wasn’t the blessing in that fateful turn of events. It was the relationships and friendships that I built with the theater folks that really set that experience apart from so many others.
A few months later I was working with Handbag on the remounted version of Caged Dames. More relationships and friendships built. And then only a few months later I was planning a baby shower for Abby from Dames, producing a play with Jodi, Jason, Derek, and Rachel (from Rudolph and/or Dames), and working on the Handbag website.
It’s all a blur. But it’s the best damn blur I’ve ever had.
Like a cherry nestled in a cloud of whipped cream atop a gigantic hot fudge sundae, a month or so ago Tim, my director from Rudolph, nominated to become a member of the Handbag Ensemble.
*blink-blink* Me? Really?
I lay it all down to David Cerda and the people of Handbag. David offered me that first gig with them, and since then I’ve found nothing but open arms, good times, and a group of people dedicated to pursuing their passions. It was humbling to be nominated.
It’s humbling to be accepted as a member of the Ensemble.
It’s humbling to be accepted as a member.
