day three

So I’ve been without food for two whole days, and today is day three. My last meal was on Friday at lunch. I think it was something terrifically awful like Taco Bell, but somehow I can’t remember.

My head is fuzzy. So it my tongue. Kinda gross, but it’s coated in whiteness as each day passes. Prolly a result of my body trying to figure out what the hell I’m doing to it. It has happened before, and no doubt when I fast again in the future, it will happen again.

I’ve lost three pounds in two days. Not that I’m fasting to lose weight, but it’s interesting to note that my midsection is decidedly smaller. I’m assuming the lack of poop in my gut is the culprit. No doubt the little pouch in my tummy will dwindle even further as the days progress.

I’ve settled on 10 days. October 9th will officially be the last day of the fast. The 10th will be full of orange juice, and the 11th will be veggies, most likely steamed broccoli, some waxy red potatoes and onions. I’m soooo craving onions. On the 12th I plan to get back to protein, but I haven’t quite decided how. I can’t roast a chicken because I’d eat the entire damn bird, but I may pop over to the Chicken Hut for a quarter with rice.

Dreaming of food has filled my mind these last two nights. So much so that I’ve been somehow making up new recipes in my sleep. I even woke up the night before last and wrote down the chicken recipe that was in my dream. It’s sort of like Korean jerk chicken. Sautee thighs until browned and simmer in a spicy (lots of red pepper paste, allspice, thyme, sage) salty broth. Then pull the chicken and make a stew with loads of kimchee, thinly sliced green onion, clear noodles, rice cake sticks, cilantro and either vinegar or lime. Damn I’m hungry.

My sense of smell is heightened beyond belief. I went to Whole Paycheck for some lemons yesterday and I could smell every person I walked by. Not body odor, but that personal smell that we all have. It was amazing, almost like music as I walked down the aisles. The fratboy I walked past smelled like, mm hmm, balls. Someone didn’t wash after their morning wake-and-shake…

Anyway, the 14th is the press opening for Jersey Boys and I want to be back on food so I can take Mom out for dinner before the show. Food and wine. And dessert. And bread. And pudding. And baked goods. Oh, how I’m longing to bake!!!
