the sparrow
Last night I went to the re-opening of The Sparrow. I say re-opening because it opened earlier this year and took home seven Jeff awards. This was the re-opening at The Apollo on Lincoln.
The show was magic, and I’ve written a review for Chicagoist. UPDATE: Here is the link. It was kick ass theatre and I hope that they reap great profits from their magical production.
I took Brandon along to see the show. Who is Brandon you might ask? Well, hmm. I’m not sure that there is much to say other than he’s a pretty groovy guy that I’ve been hanging out with. *grin*
This is day six of the fast. I’m surprisingly calm and collected, although my head is a bit in the clouds at time. This go ’round I found that I really like limes with the maple syrup. My formula is as follows:
Five limes (six or seven if they’re really small)
Four tablespoons of maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon of cayenne
I make that into a syrup and get through the whole lot in the time I’m at work. At home I’ll make up another batch, but won’t drink very much of it tonight. Some of it will be for the morning when I wake, but I’m not drinking twice the quantity above in a day. Maybe 1.5 times.
Four tablespoons of syrup is REALLY light, given the normal recipe would be eight. But honestly, I can’t take the sugar. It makes me hyper and my mind races. The down side (or up side, depending on how you think) is that I’ve dropped ten pounds. I knew that would happen fast but I’m watching it closely as the week goes on. They say two pounds a day is the norm, but my jeans are looser and I can see my belly shrinking. I’m not mad about it, but I know it’ll all come back when I start eating again.
