openings, beginnings, old friends, and cardio

What a weekend! We opened Rudolph with much fanfare and delight. Some people complained the Fri & Sat shows had pacing problems but if you ask me, we were fine. Those were the first two audiences we had and everyone was getting their timing refined. Just part of the process. By Sunday the show felt right and it was the best way to end the weekend run. Only more shows will tighten up the timing. And we have TWELVE MORE so you better come see us!

Last night Terry and I went to Sidetrack for a cocktail. We had a great time chatting about theatre and life. Really fascinating to chat with someone who has been in the music business for a few years. He knows tons of stuff and I’m awfully envious of all he’s done.

I ran into some folks I’ve known for a very long time on the scene and played catch-up. It was nice to know that some of us are still standing and haven’t been taken down by the scene. So often people who are out and about in the clubs fall into some bad crowds (or bad habits) that take them out of the scene.

What I thought was going to be a quiet week has bloomed into another hectic frenzy. I just looked at my calender (lovingly input in my iPhone) and behold, stuff to do every evening this week. But I’m looking forward to two culinary events this week.

Tuesday, Laura is hosting a Hanukkah Latke party. And then on Thursday, I’m having dinner with my friend Dennis down in Chinatown. Methinks we’re going to Lao Sze Chuan, my new fave.

Now that I’m not dancing for hours each day, I may need to do some cold weather bike riding to keep the holiday flab away. Or maybe I can just find someone to have lots of sweaty sex with. Hey, it’s cardio, right?
